What Happens When Someone Outbids You

When someone outbids you on CrowdSpark, you drop from #1 to #2 and your entry stays on the board permanently. Your name, URL, and note remain visible. To retake #1, pay at least $1 more than the new leader as a new entry. Each payment is a separate listing.

What Happens to Your Entry?

When someone pays to take #1, the ranking shifts:

  1. The new payment becomes #1
  2. You drop from #1 to #2
  3. Previous #2 drops to #3
  4. And so on down the list

Your entry remains on the board permanently. Nothing about your entry changes except its position number.

Is Your Entry Removed?

No. All entries are permanent. Your display name, URL, note, payment amount, and timestamp stay on the board forever. You cannot be removed from the board.

Can You Retake #1?

Yes. To retake the #1 position, you must pay at least $1 more than the current #1's amount. This creates a completely new entry. You cannot "top up" or modify your existing entry.

Example: You paid $5 and were #1. Someone paid $10 and became #1 (you're now #2). To retake #1, you must pay at least $11 as a new entry. Both your $5 entry and your $11 entry will be on the board.

How Many Times Can You Appear?

As many times as you pay. Each payment creates a separate entry. If you pay three times, you'll have three entries on the board, each with its own position, amount, and timestamp.

Can You Edit Your Old Entry?

No. Entries are immutable. You cannot change the display name, URL, or note after payment is confirmed. If you want to update your information, you must create a new entry by paying again.

What If Multiple People Pay at the Same Time?

The system uses database transaction locks to handle simultaneous payments. The first payment to complete validation gets the rank. Any conflicting payments would fail before being charged.
